Reason #316 - For Those Who No Longer Know Who They Are…

I was on a date night with my Man, when a song came on that shook me to the core.  My eyes immediately filled up with tears.  I quickly choked them down, gobbled up the rest of my quesadilla and then sat in silence—listening intently to the words of the song “Philadelphia” by Bruce Springsteen.

I am not sure if there is a double meaning to the song, but the one that struck me, I could visualize in the face of my dear twin sister.  She is a homeless, 39 year-old woman, with a tender heart, dimples and full lips.  She stands 5’ 9” or more.  She is much taller than me.  She wears her hair natural, and was seen recently with a winter coat on during our last heat wave.  She is lost in a world that does not want to admit that she exists.  She is lost to her family and friends. She is lost to herself.

I am singing this song for her, recognizing who she is, so that she stays relevant in a world that no longer recognizes her.

For My Twin…Who is the Other Me…
